Sydney Sports Incubator

The Sydney Sports Incubator (SSI) was created as a NSW Government sponsored program, by the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) and  the Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA), to encourage the development and commercialisation of sports focused innovation from both the start-up world and existing companies. The overall business structure now includes a not for profit organisation known as the Australian Sports Innovation Centre which will trade as the Sydney Sports Incubator.

Our Vision is to Make a positive contribution to the economy and create jobs of the future through encouraging and facilitating innovation in sport, by building the ‘Silicon Valley of sport’  at Sydney Olympic Park.

The concept of the SSI was born from a need to provide the necessary “front door” for those sports innovators who were requesting advice, validation, support and introductions from NSWIS and SOPA on a regular basis.

The Sydney Sports Incubator potential has now been tested in the market since the beginning of 2016. In that relatively short period of time, 11 months, it has enrolled 20 sports innovators to participate in its support program which has exceeded its original projections.  During this period we have reached out to trusted partners business mentors, technology partners and investors, and sporting hubs nationally and internationally.
