The Sydney Olympic Park Authority’s sports business objective is: To position Sydney Olympic Park as Australia’s premier sports precinct and to create a totally integrated sports industry model unique in the world, connecting elite and community sport. This will be achieved through the development, appraisal and implementation of initiatives in sports events, sports programs and new sports facilities or sports enhancements at Sydney Olympic Park.
The integrated sports industry model is centred on strategic sports industry partnerships and is unique both in the world of sport and Olympic/Paralympic precincts by giving equal emphasis to three levels of sport (community, developmental and elite), the types of sport (Olympic/Paralympic, popular and action sport) and the areas of further engagement, the ‘Dimensions of Sport’ that ensures its sustainability as a unique economic ‘sports cluster’ model.
