Sydney Showground has again been recognised for its outstanding work in events, named as a National Finalists in the 2019 Australian Event Awards for ‘Best Achievement in Venue Management’.
Taking home the accolade in 2018, the venue has since hosted 140 national and international exhibitions, corporate dinners, sporting events, music festivals and trade shows during the qualifying period, including a record-breaking summer.
“This nomination is a true testament to the hard work and collaboration of our staff who continue to go above and beyond for clients,” said Sydney Showground General Manager, Peter Thorpe.
“Our team aims to deliver the best event experiences in Australia, and we believe that starts with building strong relationships with our clients and offering innovative solutions.”
It’s been a big year for Sydney Showground with highlights such as the HSBC Sydney 7s Festival, Invictus Games House, X Games and RnB Friday’s Live bringing the venue to life.
Sydney Showground's place amongst the National Finalists was secured following a rigorous first round of judging by event industry leaders and experts around Australia.
Entries are judged on factors including innovation, best practice and sustainability, as well as their contribution to the events industry and the challenges involved in delivering the events.
“The Australian Events industry has been a world-leader for many years now and this year’s achievements demonstrate why. The skill, determination and innovation displayed by all the finalists is remarkable,” said Co-Chair of the Event Awards Judging Panel, Peter Rim AM.
“They are to be congratulated for not being content to rest on their professional laurels, but for pushing the boundaries of achievement and looking for new and more spectacular ways to put on their respective shows.”
Winners of the Australian Event Awards will be announced at Optus Stadium in Perth on 18 September.
