Road closures will be in place at various locations in Sydney Olympic Park over the coming months to enable the installation of retractable bollards, which will streamline the operation of the Park during events.
Retractable bollards will be installed at three locations on Murray Rose Avenue and Olympic Boulevard, and the work will be undertaken in stages.
The bollards will replace many of the large concrete blocks currently used during major events at Sydney Olympic Park and will be much faster to put in place and remove, greatly reducing the time it takes to reactivate the precinct for vehicle traffic following events.
Stage one of the project will involve the closure of Murray Rose Avenue between Park Street and Showground Road, from Tuesday 10 until Tuesday 24 September 2019.
Further works will result in the closure of Olympic Boulevard at the corner of Herb Elliott Avenue, from 26 September to 23 October. Works on Olympic Boulevard, near Qudos Bank Arena, will be undertaken after the NRL Grand Final has been held, resulting in a partial road closure from 24 October to 14 November 2019.
Traffic control measures and detours will be in place while the works are undertaken, and stakeholders directly impacted by the project will be notified.
