Sydney Olympic Park’s Qudos Bank Arena has been ranked sixth on a global list of the world’s top performing venues and arenas over the past 15 years based on the number of concerts and ticket sales.

The ranking, in the highly competitive 15,000 plus venue capacity category, by internationally respected industry authority, Venues Today, is based on performance from 1July 2002 to 31 May 2017.

During the 15 year period, Qudos Bank Arena hosted an impressive 880 concerts attended by 6,801,445 fans along with a further 276 events such as UFC, WWE, Monster Trucks, NBL basketball, netball and business events, bringing the overall total to 1,156 events attended by 9,635,816 people.

AEG Ogden Chairman and Chief Executive Harvey Lister shared how Qudos Bank Arena was adequately serving the needs of both Sydney and NSW: “Interestingly, 85% of ticket sales at Qudos Bank Arena came from the Greater Sydney area, with the rest coming from regional NSW, interstate and international guests.”

“That’s almost 1.5 million visitors coming to Sydney over that 15 year period to attend events at Qudos Bank Arena, delivering significant economic benefits to a range of businesses and the State overall.”

“Actual ticket sales within Sydney are reasonably evenly spread (relative to the percentage of population) across North, CBD/East, South and West sectors of Greater Sydney, clearly proving that the Sydney Olympic Park precinct is indeed the centre of where people in Sydney live.

“And with the NSW Government committed to spending on important public infrastructure projects at the Sydney Olympic Park precinct, it can only help to improve accessibility for patrons from across the Greater Sydney Region.”

Sydney Olympic Park Authority congratulates Qudos Bank Arena and AEG Ogden on its outstanding performance over the past 15 years and its profile on the world-stage.
