Sydney Olympic Park’s capacity for hosting major events was yet again reinforced on the 1 February, when a record crowd witnessed the first-ever international cricket match at the Park.

The KFC T20 INTL between Australia and India attracted 59,659 fans at ANZ Stadium, setting a new NSW record for the largest crowd to watch a single day’s play of international cricket. The previous record set way back in 1928 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

The history making attendance at Sydney Olympic Park supports its geographic location as the centre of greater Sydney and the ideal place to provide the larger Sydney community the opportunity to attend major events.

Staged midweek, not many locations in Australia are designed to effectively manage the arrival of a massive crowd in conjunction with the departure of a working population.

Sydney Olympic Park is designed to allow rapid entry and exit via public transport and private cars, continuing to prove itself as the preferred destination to deal with crowds.

The design of Sydney Olympic Park is supported by the events and operations team of Sydney Olympic Park Authority, that implement strategic traffic management plans that fulfil the needs of the whole of Sydney Olympic Park community: event patrons, workers and residents.
