Free entertainment under the stars for the beloved alfresco cinema series, Movies by the Boulevard, kicked off on Saturday 7 January with the showing of Cars 2 at Sydney Olympic Park.

Running throughout the month of January, thousands of movie-lovers will enjoy 12 nights of film screen at the iconic Cathy Freeman Park. Films span a variety of genres with ratings suitable for all age groups.

Now in its 11th year, Movies by the Boulevard is officially Australia’s best-attended outdoor cinema series on a nightly basis and has entertained hundreds of thousands of people since its inaugural season.

Sydney Olympic Park Authority programs, produces and presents Movies by the Boulevard to increase accessible cultural opportunities for people to participate in. The free community event attracts many locals from the Auburn area.

Starlight Children’s Foundation is the charity partner of this event in 2012. For a gold coin donation, Starlight is running a range of kids’ activities before the screenings of eight of the 12 films. Starlight’s mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children, and their families, throughout Australia.
