Call for Nominations - Design Review Panel

Sydney Olympic Park Authority (the Authority) is responsible for managing and developing the 640 hectares that comprise Sydney Olympic Park and maintaining it as a lasting legacy for the people of New South Wales.

Under the management of the Authority, the Park has rapidly developed into an important urban centre and built on its legacy as a premier destination for sporting, entertainment and cultural activities and one of Australia’s largest urban parklands. 

Future planning at Sydney Olympic Park is guided by Master Plan 2030 (2016 Review) which aims to provide a comprehensive approach to the long-term development of Sydney Olympic Park, focusing on creating an active, vibrant town centre within metropolitan Sydney. A key objective for the Authority is to ensure design excellence throughout the re-development of the urban core.

The Authority is currently inviting nominations from suitably qualified and experienced built environment professionals to join the Sydney Olympic Park Design Review Panel (DRP).

The DRP was established in 2001 with the purpose of providing credible and independent expert advice during the review of design proposals to ensure high quality development and a cohesive, safe and easily legible public domain at Sydney Olympic Park in line with Master Plan 2030.

The Authority is currently seeking up to 25 design professionals from a variety of disciplines including (but not limited to):

  • architecture
  • urban design
  • landscape architecture
  • town planning
  • engineering and
  • environmental sustainability.

Membership will be for a term of up to three years.

Please forward a copy of a recent Curriculum Vitae and Cover Letter that addresses the following selection criteria:

  • appropriate qualifications and demonstrated expertise in any of the professions listed above, or other qualifications relevant to the built environment & urban design
  • demonstrated expertise in design review, design critique and providing objective and constructive feedback on complex design quality issues
  • design jury experience and understanding of design competition and/or design award processes
  • knowledge or understanding of the NSW Government Planning Framework
  • good written and verbal communication to ensure that advice provided to proponents is clear and concise and
  • highly regarded amongst professional peers.

Please also include a schedule of hourly rates, to be used if selected to be a jury member during a design competition. Individuals only may apply for the DRP.  Companies nominating a range of staff will not be accepted.

The SOPA selection panel will assess nominations and an interview with the shortlisted applicants may be required.
