The NSW Government is investing $27 million into a state-of-the-art netball centre of excellence called Netball Central.
The new $27 million facility will include:
- 6 new state-of-the-art timber sprung floor courts
- an elite netball 'show court' with retractable seating
- headquarters for Netball NSW
- meeting/function rooms
- gymnasium and sports science facilities
- physiotherapy and recovery centre
- player change rooms
- and the NSW Netball Hall of Fame.
Netball NSW CEO Carolyn Campbell said, “when the Netball Centre of Excellence is complete, netball will join a sporting family of 47 sports who already call Sydney Olympic Park home; a home that will open up many opportunities as well as provide a great platform to showcase the sport”.
The new facility represents the largest facility investment in women’s sport and for netball in the history of the sport in Australia.
Strategic Sports Partnership
Netball Central has been developed by Netball NSW in partnership with the Sydney Olympic Park Authority and funded by the NSW Government.
The project is also supported through Netball Australia’s successful bid to host the 2015 Netball World Championships in Sydney Olympic Park, utilising the existing and new world class sporting facilities.
