Monster Skate Park
Monster Skate Park was built in 2005 and has the only international ramp facility in Australia with an indoor street course and outdoor vert and mini ramps plus an action sports shop. Sessions for skateboarders, scooters and BMX are all catered for at Monster Skatepark.
Strategic Sports Partnerships
Monster Skate Park was developed through an extensive consultation program involving youth, elite skaters, BMX and skateboarders and a review of world’s best practice facilities in the action sports. The aim of these facilities is to engage youth beyond traditional sports and provide a relevant place for youth in the local community.
Both the Mountain X and BMX facilities were supported by the Australian Olympic Committee and the Australian Sports Commission. The project has also developed out of the working relationship that the Sydney Olympic Park Authority has with Auburn Council. This project is a product of this co-operation and has engaged young people of the Auburn LGA to participate in sport.
Funding partners for the project included Auburn Council and the Federal Governments Regional Development Program. Other supporters of the tracks development included the Australian Olympic Committee, BMX Australia, Cycling Australia and the Australian Sports Commission.
The facility was a collaboration project with the participants the relevant national and state sporting associations and funded by the Sydney Olympic Park Authority. The Monster facilities are utilised for elite competition and community participation programs.
